A Mercedes sedan crashed through the glass entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport’s McNamara Terminal on Friday evening, injuring six people and causing notable damage.
The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m., as the car plowed into the terminal near Delta’s check-in area, sending glass and debris flying and sparking chaos among travelers and staff.
Emergency responders treated minor injuries at the scene, including three Delta employees affected by falling debris.
The driver, reportedly wearing a Detroit Lions jersey, was swiftly detained by airport security, though officials have yet to release the individual’s identity or motive.
Despite the alarming event, airport operations and Delta flights remained on schedule.
